Petition
Buy a fleet of water bomber plane to help tackle wildfires

What the petition asks
With moorland fires closing Woodhead pass for days and triggering a national emergency in the Cairngorms National Park, it's clear traditional firefighting isn't enough. In a warming climate we need better suited equipment to more extreme natural disasters.
Water bomber planes have the capability of carrying significantly higher volumes of water to fight fires than any helicopter or fire appliance. They don't require miles of pipeline that can burst. They can wait at airports at strategic locations around the country, ready for deployment in the UK or to help allies in times of great need. It's better for our economy and the global economy if we do what we can to limit the effects of climate change by stopping wildfires as effectively as possible.
