Petition

Increase government spending for end of life care.

Rejected 9 signatures

What the petition asks

UK hospices face a critical crisis: running them costs £2B annually, but government funding covers just £0.5B, leaving charities to raise the remaining £1.5B.

1 in 3 dying people miss out on end of life care, these our are family and friends, and could be us.

Hospice UK reports 310,000 patients and 89,000 carers received care in 2024–25. By 2040, annual deaths will rise by 130,000. Up to 90% need palliative care, yet 1 in 3 currently miss out.

An immediate £50M funding boost will:
• Protect Staff: Secure wages for 13,250 clinical staff.
• Ease Strain: Reduce charity fundraising reliance.
• Expand Reach: Fund at-home visits for those left behind.

We cannot outsource dignity to charity. Government must fund hospice care now.
