Extend the bus fare cap in England to trams

Open for signatures 20 signatures

What the petition asks

We call upon the Government to extend the England bus fare cap to trams.
Trams have often regenerated deprived neighbourhoods, yet bus services often reduce as a result, so poor neighbourhoods are left with little choice but to get the more expensive tram. There should be a level playing field.
Comparison of UK tram single fares as of 27th July 2026, not covered by the bus fare cap:
Birmingham between £2.50 and £5.30;
Blackpool £3 or £3.50;
Manchester between £1.40 and £4.80;
Nottingham £3.60;
Sheffield £2.50 or £3
