Joint Statement from Churches on Alloa Jobs Crisis

That the Parliament endorses the statement released jointly in the names of the Church of Scotland congregations of St Mungo’s Parish Church, Alloa North Parish Church and Alloa West Parish Church, St Mungo’s R.C. Church, St John’s Episcopal Church, Moncrieff U.F. Church and Alloa Baptist Church, which states that: “The Christian Churches in Alloa are united in their continuing concern for the community in the wake of continuing job losses. In recent years, the area has witnessed a devastating loss of employment in traditional industries which seriously affects the social well-being of the entire community. The Churches call upon the Scottish parliament to take urgent steps to investigate this matter and to implement all practical measures to alleviate the situation.”
