Recognition of Kinship Care

As an amendment to motion S2M-00774 in the name of John Swinburne (Recognition of Kinship Care), leave out from “as a consequence” to end and insert “and further acknowledges that both the Children (Scotland) Act 1995 and the Children Act 1989 allow local authorities to contribute to the maintenance of a young person being cared for by a relative and that if all relatives, including grandparents, were required to undergo the same checks and assessments required of approved foster carers then this form of alternative family care may be denied to some young people.”
