Use of Dogs as Shark Bait

Lodged by Mark Ballard Standard Motion 1 supporter

The motion

That the Parliament expresses its horror at the recent reports of the use of dogs as shark bait on the French-controlled island of Réunion; notes that this practice has sparked outrage across the globe; further notes that the inhumane methods used in this barbaric and illegal practice include the rounding up of stray dogs and the placing of hooks through their noses whilst still alive, and calls on members of the public and the Scottish Executive to convey their unease to the French Embassy to assist in bringing this cruel practice to a stop.
