Meet the Patients

That the Parliament congratulates the British Lung Foundation Scotland, Asthma UK Scotland, Chest Heart Stroke Scotland and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust on organising the “Meet the Patients” event on 1 March 2006; welcomes the opportunity to meet people living with respiratory disease from across the country and discuss issues of concern to them; regrets that one person in every five in Scotland is affected by lung disease; further regrets that people living in the most deprived areas are four times more likely to die of respiratory diseases such as lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and urges the Scottish Executive to improve treatment and care services for all people living with respiratory disease in Scotland.
