BT Gaelic Schools Debate

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the pupils and staff of Dingwall Academy and the Nicolson Institute, Stornoway, on their outstanding performances in the final round of the BT Scotland National Gaelic Schools Debate, held in the Parliament on Tuesday 28 November 2006; applauds the debating and linguistic standards set by both teams and, in particular, the winners, Coinneach MacCoinnich and Tessa Campbell of Dingwall Academy, demonstrating the success of Gaelic medium education throughout Scotland; also congratulates BT Scotland on its continuing commitment in support of the Gaelic language, and acknowledges the contribution to the debate by the 16 teams participating in the 2006 competition.

Gu bheil a’ Phàrlamaid a’ cur meala naidheachd air sgoilearan agus luchd-teagaisg Acadamaidh Inbhir Pheofharain agus Sgoil MhicNeacail, Steòrnabhagh, air cho math ’s a rinn iad anns a’ chuairt dheireannach de Dheasbad Gàidhlig BT Alba, a chaidh a chumail anns a’ Phàrlamaid Dimàirt 28 Samhain 2006; gu bheil i mothachail air cho math ‘s a bha na h-ìrean deasbad agus sgilean cànain aig gach sgioba agus gu sònraichte, an sgioba a bhuannaich, Coinneach MacCoinnich agus Tessa Chaimbeul à Inbhir Pheofharain; a tha a’ dearbhadh cho soirbheachail ’s a tha foghlam tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig air feadh na h-Alba; agus gu bheil i cuideachd a’ guidhe meala naidheachd air BT Alba airson na taic maireannaich a tha iad air a thoirt dhan Ghàidhlig; agus a’ toirt fa-near cho fìor mhath agus a bha na 16 sgiobaidhean a ghabh pàirt ann am farpais 2006.
