Dementia Strategy

The motion

As an amendment to motion S3M-04797 in the name of Shona Robison (Dementia Strategy), insert at end “; notes the consultation undertaken by Alzheimer's Scotland in the form of road shows, focus groups and an online questionnaire to inform a charter of rights for people with dementia; calls on the Scottish Government to recognise the priorities identified by stakeholders for early and easy access to diagnosis, support to enable people to live at home for as long as possible and higher quality of care provided in all care settings by specialist dementia staff so that people with dementia can reach their full potential; further notes the publication of the National Dementia Strategy for England in February 2009, supported by £150 million, and the importance placed in it on the role of dementia advisers and specialist dementia care staff to support people with dementia from diagnosis to end of life, and calls on the Scottish Government to ensure that sufficient resources are made available to support the Scottish strategy.”
