Campaigning Newspapers
The motion
That the Parliament considers that local and regional newspapers play an important role in the democratic process; believes that local newspapers with a strong campaigning tradition give voice to communities and can bring about real change for the better; congratulates all the winners at the Scottish Press Awards 2010, particularly the Greenock Telegraph for winning Campaign of the Year for its effective drive against knife crime, and supports the campaign message that knife crime is unacceptable and those caught carrying a knife should go to jail.
