Removal of President Zine al-Abidine Bin Ali of Tunisia

That the Parliament notes with concern the current unrest in Tunisia in which scores of people have been killed; welcomes the removal of President Zine al-Abidine Bin Ali who was president of the country for more than two decades and whose regime was widely believed to be corrupt and repressive, and hopes that, once new parliamentary elections are held, the country will return to peace and prosperity, with the full political freedoms and accountability of a modern democracy.
