Kirkcaldy Girls Out Loud

That the Parliament welcomes a new project set up in Kirkcaldy designed to increase the self-esteem of young girls after a conference in 2010 revealed that Fife’s young women were lacking in confidence; notes that the one-year pilot project is currently working with pupils at Viewforth High School with the hope that it can be rolled out to all of the town’s secondary schools in the future; understands that the project follows on from the Girls Out Loud conference that took place in March 2010 and aims to build self-confidence and develop team building and communication skills; welcomes the fact that by taking part the girls will receive a bronze youth achievement award for their work and will be able to gain skills that they can take back to school and into the workplace, and congratulates Rachael O’Byrne, a development worker at the YWCA, and the Integrated Communities Schools team for offering local girls the opportunity to become more confident in every aspect of their lives.
