Remploy
The motion
As an amendment to motion S4M-05019 in the name of Fergus Ewing (Remploy), insert at end "; calls on the Scottish Government to consider further measures to assist those made redundant by the closure of Remploy factories, including the introduction of an employer support grant similar to the scheme operating in Wales; believes that every effort should be made to ensure a sustainable future for supported workplaces and calls on the Scottish Government to consider establishing a permanent supported workplaces taskforce, involving the First Minister’s Council of Economic Advisers, cooperatives, unions and private sector expertise to establish and deliver a strategy to secure the long-term future of supported workplaces in Scotland, and further calls on the Scottish Government to use its procurement powers to greater effect to secure contracts for supported workplaces and to consider ways of working with Remploy factories such as Springburn to find alternatives to closure."
