Child Poverty
The motion
As an amendment to motion S4M-09482 in the name of Margaret Burgess (Child Poverty), leave out from “that the gains” to end and insert “the need for robust measures to help women back into the workplace as a means of alleviating child poverty; calls on the Scottish Government to put a comprehensive action plan and monitoring framework in place in order to ensure that the strategy is implemented; acknowledges that the significant progress made on reducing child poverty by the previous Labour-led Scottish administration has stalled under the current SNP administration; recognises that the welfare cuts made by the UK Government will result in an increase in child poverty, and calls on the Scottish Government to reaffirm its commitment to both the Child Poverty Act 2010 and to the eradication of child poverty".
