African Lanarkshire for Mental Health

That the Parliament congratulates African Lanarkshire for Mental Health on its grant of £9,000 from the Awards for All Scotland Fund; understands that this grant will allow the organisation to improve the mental health of African people in North Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas and to take people from the African community with mental health issues and their families on various trips to assist recovery and integration and help with the costs of IT equipment and web design; believes that this is also an important initiative to promote advocacy for and combat stigma associated with mental illness; considers that new organisations such as African Lanarkshire for Mental Health are of great importance for people's health and wellbeing and in supporting people so that they are aware of their rights and can make informed decisions, and wishes the organisation success in its efforts to make communities safer, stronger and more able to work together to tackle inequalities.
