Protecting Employee Rights and Access to Justice

As an amendment to motion S4M-13442 in the name of Roseanna Cunningham (Protecting Employee Rights and Access to Justice), leave out from "calls for" to end and insert "believes that employees’ rights are important across the whole UK and that a UK-wide system of regulation and employment law recognises that individuals and companies work in all parts of the UK; supports the living wage and believes that employers should pay such a wage wherever possible; welcomes the previous UK administration's action to address exclusivity in zero-hours contracts; further welcomes the work of the Liberal Democrats in the last UK administration to protect workers and ensure that businesses are not able to fire workers at will in the face of demands from Conservative right-wing members; values the work of trade unions on behalf of their members, and believes that it is important for both the UK and Scottish governments to engage meaningfully and openly with businesses, employees and trade unions to ensure that employees’ rights are protected and employment law respected in Scotland’s workplaces."
