Protecting the Site of the Battle of Roslin

That the Parliament highlights the importance of the Battle of Roslin of 1303, which saw a Scots force led by Sir Symon Fraser and Sir John Comyn defeat a vastly larger English force during the Wars of Independence; notes that the site is marked by a monument erected in 1994; welcomes the recognition that the battlefield has been given by Historic Scotland as a site of national importance; notes the interest of South Scotland residents; highlights its concern that the draft local development plan would see housing around part of the battlefield, and calls for a full archaeological survey and interpretation of the battlefield to be made available so that the site can be better understood and valued for years to come.
