Get on Board for Hawick and Carlisle
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes what it considers the historic reinstatement of the rail link from Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank; understands that there is widespread expert opinion that this will bring many socioeconomic benefits to Midlothian and the Borders; acknowledges the view expressed by both the leader of Scottish Borders Council and the leader of Carlisle City Council that the line should be extended to Carlisle via Hawick, and calls on the Scottish Government to commit to a feasibility study.
