Motion · S4M-14826 · 12 Nov 2015
Closure of HMRC Offices in Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament notes with alarm reports that HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is planning to close several of its sites in Scotland, including offices in Cumbernauld and East Kilbride; believes that the department employs significant numbers of people in these areas and that closing the sites could have a devastating effect on communities and potentially lead to over 2,000 job losses, and calls on the Scottish Government to bring its influence to bear to ensure that further significant job losses are not inflicted on Lanarkshire, or indeed anywhere else in the country.
