Support for Autistic Children in Mainstream Schools

That the Parliament considers that more must be done to support autistic children placed in mainstream schools; notes that these concerns were raised by Donna Morgan, a solicitor at the Govan Law Centre; understands that disputes with the local authorities over school placements for autistic children make up the bulk of her case load; further understands that there is a need to offer more support to help autistic children "transition” throughout their education, and believes that, because of the complexities of autism and the wide range of triggers that children face, local authorities must focus on responding to the needs of individual children and providing them with the support that they need.
