First Glasgow Fare Increases

Lodged by Johann Lamont Standard Motion 11 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament notes with concern the decision by First Glasgow to scrap unaccompanied child concession tickets and increase fares for under-16s by 40%; considers that buses can be a vital lifeline for low-income families to access employment and education; believes that the best way to safeguard routes and provide affordable bus services is to re-regulate the industry, providing a service that is publicly run for passengers not for profit, and urges First Glasgow to reconsider this decision and deliver a service that better meets the needs of the residents of Glasgow.
