The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the West FM News campaign, Joan’s Legacy, which seeks to highlight the need for speed cameras to be installed on the A77 between the Whitletts and Bankfield roundabouts; notes that Joan Price of Troon was tragically killed on this section of carriageway in 2017 by a vehicle travelling at up to 140mph; understands that, where average speed cameras have been installed along other sections of the A77, there has been a 77% reduction in fatal casualties and a 74% reduction in serious casualties, compared with the original baseline published in 2005, and believes that urgent action should be taken to install average speed cameras on the A77 between these two roundabouts.
