Nevertheless, She Persisted

That the Parliament congratulates the award-winning, Edinburgh-based portrait and documentary photographer, Mhairi Bell-Moodie, on being shortlisted for the Royal Photographic Society's (RPS) International Photography Exhibition, selected for the 2018 Royal Scottish Academy Open and nominated for RPS's Hundred Heroines campaign, following the display of her project, Nevertheless, She Persisted, a photography series of portraits of 25 women who have overcome adversity through their stories, which range from surviving breast cancer, escaping domestic abuse, being raped, losing a baby, a wide range of mental health issues and much more; understands that the project was launched online on International Women's Day 2018 with the exhibition held at Out of the Blue in Edinburgh from 8 to 18 May; recognises that, due to overwhelming demand for the exhibition, it will now also be showing in London at the Espacio Gallery in Shoreditch from 17 to 28 October; notes that Mhairi will also be collecting sanitary products again at the exhibit, for Bloody Good Period, an organisation that aims to create a sustainable flow of sanitary protection for those who cannot afford to buy them, and wishes her well for the future.
