Sandra Laurenson OBE
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Sandra Laurenson on being appointed an OBE for services to the UK ports industry and the Scottish economy in the 2019 New Year Honours List; recognises that Sandra spent 44 years at Lerwick Port Authority before retiring as chief executive in November 2018, where she presided over the changes that came with the oil and gas boom, the fishing industry and, more recently, increases in cruise ship visits and decommissioning work; notes that her first job at the port was in the accountancy department before becoming office administration manager, deputy general manager and, in 2007, the first female chief executive of a UK port authority; considers this award to be thoroughly deserved, and wishes Sandra all the best for the future.
