Edinburgh Living

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of Edinburgh Living, a new housing partnership between the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Futures Trust; notes that the partnership was launched on 23 January 2019 with the delivery of the first of these high quality, energy-efficient new homes; recognises that Edinburgh Living was set up through the Edinburgh and South East City Region Deal where the Scottish Government provided on-lending consents of £248 million to the partnership as well as a grant of £16.1 million; appreciates that around 1,500 new affordable homes will be delivered through the initiative over the next five years, which itself is part of the council’s award-winning housebuilding programme that is targeting building 20,000 new affordable homes over the next 10 years; notes that Edinburgh Living is part of the many welcome efforts by the City of Edinburgh Council to address the growing demand for modern, energy-efficient housing that have rental levels that people in Edinburgh can more easily afford, and appreciates the Scottish Government’s commitment to increasing and accelerating housing supply by supporting industry and local authorities to deliver their housing priorities with quality homes that fit individual and community needs.
