The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Gourock teenager, Abbi Noone, on being honoured by Girlguiding Renfrewshire for her fundraising efforts in aid of MND Scotland, which supports people affected by motor neurone disease as well as funding research into a cure for the illness; notes that Abbi, of 2nd Gourock Guides, has been organising and taking part in events to raise money for MND Scotland as her father, Mark, a former police officer, died from the disease in 2010 aged 36; commends Abbi for taking part in the MND Scotland fire and glass walk in October 2018 alongside her Mum, Erica, who is a classroom assistant at St Stephen’s High School in Port Glasgow, by walking across 20 feet of hot coals, followed by 20 feet of razor-sharp broken glass, raising £1,700 in the process; appreciates that Abbi has also held a bake sale in her street, participated in a 2 km run at Kilmacolm and, aged nine, a 5 km run in Strathclyde Park; understands that Abbi has been presented with the Girlguiding Renfrewshire Service Quaich, which is awarded for service outwith Guiding; believes that Abbi is an inspiration to young people in Greenock and Inverclyde, and thanks her for determinedly supporting MND Scotland’s work.
