Santander Branch in Helensburgh to Close

That the Parliament is disappointed by reports of the forthcoming closure of the Santander branch in Helensburgh; understands that this is part of a wider plan to close 15 Santander branches across Scotland; recognises the frustration that this closure causes to local residents in Helensbrugh, who will experience significant disruption as a result of losing their local branch; understands that this will result in customers being forced to travel to other branches over 40 miles away, which is not a viable option for those with limited mobility; notes that these closures come as part of further bank closures across the sector, leaving communities without both face-to-face banking services and jobs, and calls on Santander to reconsider its decision to close its branches in Scotland and, in particular, the branch in Helensburgh.
