Orkney Gin Company Wins UK’s Best Gin Award

That the Parliament commends the Orkney Gin Company on being awarded the UK's overall Best in Category (Compound Gin) at the 2019 World Gin Awards for its Johnsmas traditional cold compound method gin; understands that this is the second consecutive year that the Orkney Gin Company, which is based in Burray, has won the award; commends the entrepreneurial spirit and approach of the company in creating and developing this Orcadian brand; recognises the part played by the Orkney Gin Company in a successful and growing high-quality food and drink sector in Orkney; understands that over 70% of UK gin is made in Scotland and that the number of gin producers in Scotland increased by half in the last year, and wishes the distillery good luck when it comes up against the international competition for the World’s Best Gin title at the Gin Magazine awards dinner in London on 21 February 2019.
