The motion

As an amendment to motion S5M-15609 in the name of Christina McKelvie (A Connected Scotland, the Scottish Government’s Strategy for Tackling Social Isolation and Loneliness), insert at end "; further recognises the key role of local communities, local services and the third sector in preventing social isolation; notes that the UN rapporteur’s preliminary report on extreme poverty and human rights in the UK stated that 'many of the public places and institutions that previously brought communities together, such as libraries, community and recreation centres, and public parks, have been steadily dismantled or undermined', and agrees that the impact of ongoing austerity on local services, the third sector and local communities must be addressed as part of the strategy to tackle social isolation and loneliness."
