Ruth Miller Helps People in Need
The motion
That the Parliament thanks Ruth Miller, who is from Greenock, on organising 91 Christmas hampers that were filled with everything from turkey and roast beef to cake, chocolate and non-alcoholic beverages to help people struggling to cope financially enjoy a Christmas feast; notes that Ruth put together the parcels with the help of family, friends and colleagues at the Homebase store in Greenock; understands that Homebase, which was turned into a clearance store and has now closed, donated an illuminated cool box as a fundraising raffle prize with the money used to buy food for the hampers; recognises that employees at RBS’ Mortgage Centre in Greenock donated presents and that Reach for Autism gave Ruth access to a storeroom for all the food and presents; commends Jane Gunn, who drove Ruth everywhere to collect, buy and then make the deliveries; believes that Ruth’s efforts will have made a real difference to the people who received a Christmas hamper, and that the help and support she received from local businesses, organisations and volunteers highlights the positive impact people can have on their community, and thanks all involved for their efforts.
