The motion

That the Parliament welcomes a report by the commercial recycling and waste services provider, First Mile, which states that Edinburgh is the “greenest” major city in the UK, with Aberdeen and Glasgow coming second and third; understands that experts analysed various factors, including electric vehicle charging points, recycling per capita, green space, air quality, pollution levels, reduction of plastic use and fast-fashion consumption; recognises that the research revealed that Edinburgh is the best major city for green space and low pollution levels; further recognises that Aberdeen performed the best for air quality and that Glasgow residents were the most likely to be reducing their plastic use; appreciates that the chief executive of First Mile commented that “Scotland stands head and shoulders above other countries when it comes to being green in the UK and our research helped crown Edinburgh as the UK’s ‘Greenest’ city”, and believes that this achievement is in no small part due to the environment policies of the Scottish Government and the pro-environment parties in the Parliament.
