Stoneyburn Loses its GP Provision

That the Parliament understands with dismay that the village of Stoneyburn will no longer have GP provision; understands that such provision was initially withdrawn from the village's health centre in June 2018 and that the contractor, Barclaycare, which was appointed in January 2019, has decided not to re-instate the service; believes that this will result in people from the village and the surrounding areas having to travel to Fauldhouse to see a GP; considers that this will have detrimental impact on people on low incomes, older and vulnerable people and people without their own vehicle; believes that bus services between Stoneyburn and Fauldhouse are expensive, infrequent and unreliable; considers that the decision to end the provision is due to finances and an acute shortage of trained GPs in Scotland; believes that this has been caused by a failure of the Scottish Government to adequately workforce plan; calls on the health secretary to visit Stoneyburn and listen to the views of the villagers, and urges Barclaycare to reverse its decision and reinstate what it believes is vital GP provision in Stoneyburn.
