Orkney Success at the Highlands and Islands Media Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates The Orcadian on winning the Newspaper of the Year title at the Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Awards 2019, which were presented at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness on 1 February and recognised and celebrated the excellence of everybody working across all forms of press and media across the area; notes that The Orcadian saw off tough competition from The Northern Scot and The Shetland Times to win the award; further congratulates the Orkney-based freelancer, Dave Flanagan, on winning the Best Use of Digital Media category, and acknowledges the contributions made by all who were nominated.
