Santander Closures in Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament understands that Santander has announced the closure of 15 branches in Scotland; believes that this is part of a wider scheme of 140 branch closures across the UK; is concerned by what it sees as the lack of consultation over this; believes that it is particularly worrying for the more rural communities that are affected by this decision, such as Lanark and Troon; considers that high street bank branches play a vital role for people and businesses; calls on Santander to halt the closures until full and thorough consultation has taken place, and asks the bank to ensure that it also properly engages with the trade unions as part of this process.
