Celebrating the Award-winning Recovery Life Cafe in Kirkintilloch
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates William Nixon on receiving the Volunteer Hero award from East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action (EDVA) for his voluntary work for the Recovery Life Cafe, which is a charity based in Kirkintilloch; notes that the cafe has been running since May 2013 and offers people with substance misuse issues, and their families, safe alcohol-free themed evenings with healthy homemade food and entertainment, as well as a chance to talk at relaxing events held on the first Saturday of each month at Kirkintilloch Baptist Church hall, and further notes that the Recovery Life Cafe won the Strengthening Community Engagement and Resilience category at the 2015 Safer Communities Awards.
