The motion

That the Parliament welcomes a £40 million investment by CityFibre to roll out a new 1Gbps fibre-to-the-home broadband network in Aberdeen, in partnership with Vodafone; notes that Aberdeen was the first Scottish Gigabit City to be announced, which is helping businesses become more innovative and productive, helps households make better use of smart technology, and increases the ability of local professionals to work efficiently and effectively from home; understands that construction started in 2018, with Kincorth being one of the first areas of the city to be connected to the network; further understands that this is part of CityFibre’s £2.5 billion Gigabit City programme to cover five million premises across the UK, and wishes everyone involved all the best with the project.
