Girls Tackle Stereotypes at Glenrothes Rugby Club
The motion
That the Parliament praises the new initiative being launched by Glenrothes Rugby Club, which is designed to encourage more girls’ participation in rugby and which will hold training sessions for girls of all ages, abilities, sizes and experience where they can learn new skills and make new friends; notes that, although women’s rugby has, it considers, suffered from unfair comparisons to the men’s game, outdated stereotypes and a lack of opportunities for young girls to play at grassroots level, perceptions are changing and it has become one of the fastest growing team sports in the world, and wishes all of those involved in this initiative the best of luck with their training.
