Lochies School Makaton Rocks Group, #AsOne
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the children in the Makaton Rocks singing and signing group from Lochies School in Sauchie on their outstanding show of support for the Scotland rugby team ahead of the squad’s Six Nations game with Ireland on 9 February 2019; understands that they became a Twitter sensation with the video that they posted of them signing and singing Flower of Scotland to show the team their support and to highlight the message that “we are #AsOne”; notes that Lochies is Clackmannanshire’s specialist primary school for learners with complex additional needs and uses Makaton sign language regularly used to assist with communication; understands that, in recognition of the group’s support, Scottish Rugby has invited a number of the pupils to attend the summer test match against France, and hopes that the children’s video will inspire the team for its game against France on 23 February.
