Usdaw’s Time for Better Pay Campaign
The motion
That the Parliament applauds the efforts of Usdaw’s Time for Better Pay campaign, which aims to raise the minimum wage to £10 per hour, offer at least 16 hours per week of work and ban all zero-hour contracts; unequivocally supports the view that workers deserve better pay and conditions; notes the result of the Usdaw survey of 10,000 members, which showed that 54% missed meals to pay bills and demonstrated that job insecurity is linked to poor mental health; believes that employees in insecure work should have the right to switch to a contract based on normal working hours, as backed by the Low Pay Commission; supports the work of Usdaw and other trade unions, and encourages others to show their support by signing the petition at petition.parliament.uk/petitions/234531.
