Braes High School UNICEF Rights Respecting School Gold Status

That the Parliament congratulates the staff and pupils of Braes High School on achieving gold status in UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Schools programme; understands that it is the first school in the Falkirk district to achieve this award; notes that the accolade is given to schools that have fully embedded the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child in their policies, practice and ethos; recognises the work of the faculty head of humanities at the school, Fiona Malcolm, and her leadership in Braes High School achieving this status; praises the entire school for ensuring that rights are embedded in the curriculum; considers that the focus on being a rights respecting school goes far beyond the school gates and continues into the communities, and has the pupils at the very heart of everything that they do; believes the rights of children to be of vital importance, that respect towards fellow human beings must be encouraged and that rights must be protected for the future of the country and the world; congratulates everyone at Braes High School on achieving this prestigious status, and looks forward to hearing about more of their work in maintaining a great example in respecting rights inside the school and in their local Braes community in the future.
