Far North Rail Replacement
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the completion of works to renew and replace sections of track at 59 sites along the Far North Line; notes that the £11 million project was undertaken by Network Rail and has taken two and a half years to finish; commends the innovation in identifying solutions to working in challenging remote locations, such as delivery of the 1,100 rails used in the work being delivered by sea to reduce road journeys and saving approximately 200 tonnes of carbon, and looks forward to the improved operation of the line now that a number of track faults have been removed.
