Kylesku Bridge
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the awarding of category A status by Historic Environment Scotland to the Kylesku Bridge; notes that this award has been made in recognition of the bridge being of special architectural interest; further notes that the bridge will also be the first to be legally renamed with a Gaelic tag, Drochlaid a Chaolais Chumhaing; recognises that the bridge is one of the most photographed in Scotland and has featured in films and TV programmes; recognises that the bridge, built between 1981 and 1984, has been recognised for its construction and quality of design through previous awards, including the Scottish Award for Civil Engineering Construction and the Concrete Society Award, and notes that the decision to list the bridge follows on from a consultation launched by Historic Environment Scotland and The Highland Council where members of the public were invited to express their views.
