World Record Power Generation for Meygen Project
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Simec Atlantis Energy on its Meygen four-turbine set up in the Pentland Firth setting a world record for generating power and exporting it to the National Grid; notes that Meygen has generated 12 gigawatt hours of electricity since it was switched on in April 2018; understands that it is the largest tidal turbine project in Britain, and welcomes the reported commitment to expand the Meygen project in the coming years.
