Harriet Sweatman, Scottish Schools' Young Writer of the Year
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Harriet Sweatman, who is a pupil at the Royal High School in Edinburgh, on being named the Scottish Schools’ Young Writer of the Year in recognition of an essay that she wrote summarising the current environment in Scotland's education system, particularly in secondary schools; acknowledges Harriet's observation that schools appear to be an "exam factory" and her comments regarding what she believes is the continued decline in the number of teachers entering the profession, and wishes Harriet all the best in her endeavours.
