Aberdeenshire Year of Young People 2018 Legacy Event

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates everyone whose achievements and talents were celebrated at the recent Aberdeenshire Year of Young People 2018 Legacy Event at Meldrum Academy; notes that guests saw and heard 52 youth voices recordings, which was an initiative allowing young people to tell the world what matters to them most via podcasts, vodcasts and in writing; understands the it also featured presentations and performances from some of the north east’s most talented young people; notes that Clara Gray, 17, spoke about her experience as a human rights defender after she was invited to Paris to interview the UN special representative on violence against children, Josh MacRae, 16, gave his insights on being a MYSP and that Josh Daniel Fowlie, 14, who is involved in Aberdeenshire’s Youth Music Initiative, gave a performance; recognises that participants were invited to enter a competition to answer the question, “If young people had the power to make Scotland a country for young people, what would that look like?”; applauds the organisers and all who participated, and wishes them well.
