Dundee Tackling Neurodegenerative Diseases
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the announcement of a new partnership between the University of Dundee’s Drug Discovery Unit and Takeda, Japan’s largest pharmaceutical company; understands that this partnership will seek to develop new therapeutic treatments for tau pathology, an underlying feature in many cases of neurodegenerative disease, including Alzheimer’s disease; notes that around 50 million people are affected by Alzheimer’s disease globally, a number that is expected to increase; hopes that this new research may lead to further breakthroughs, support or treatments for people with neurodegenerative diseases, and looks forward to hearing about these developments in the future.
