Scotland’s Paediatrician Crisis

Lodged by Neil Findlay Standard Motion 2 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the report by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, which states that there is a recruitment crisis among Scotland’s paediatricians; understands that Scotland has fallen behind England in the recruitment of paediatric consultants and that the number of general paediatricians has experienced the biggest shortfall; believes that this has occurred at a time in which the workload for doctors has increased, and considers that, if this situation is not resolved soon, the likelihood of more paediatric wards closing across the country will increase.
