The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of a new online resource for people with hearing loss in Edinburgh; notes that the digital directory is designed to be a one-stop-shop for adults seeking help and support and details the many services available to the estimated 40,000 people with hearing loss in Edinburgh; recognises that the directory features over 60 listings and is the city’s first ever hearing loss directory; understands that the directory includes details of courses to learn new skills to manage hearing loss, lipreading classes, support groups, access to equipment, employability services, advice for employers and bespoke information and support for veterans with tinnitus and hearing loss; further understands that the directory will also include details of emotional and practical support from the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership’s specialist social work service, and believes that the new directory will help bring resources together to make finding the most appropriate and valuable support easier and more accessible.
