Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the competitors from the 123 schools who took part in the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships (SSPBC), held at Inveralmond Community High School in Livingston on 10 March 2019; notes that the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust was set up in 2014 and, in addition to organising the SSPBC, offers cash grants, guidance and bagpipe loans to help introduce piping and drumming tuition to schools; further notes that the championships were set up to encourage schools to form pipe bands and help teach young people musical skills alongside the benefits of teamwork and discipline; commends all those who teach, organise and help fundraise to ensure that players from across Scotland can take part, and wishes all the participants well with their future piping and drumming endeavours.
