Silverline Care Caledonia
The motion
That the Parliament condemns the decision by Silverline Care Caledonia to de-recognise GMB Scotland as the trade union representing the staff in six care homes across the country in Laurencekirk, Johnstone, Beith, Port Glasgow and Kilmarnock; considers that this amounts to an attack on workers who provide some of the most valuable services in society, yet who are some of the most undervalued and overworked; further considers that it is an attack on a trade union’s ability to collectively bargain on behalf of its members; notes the publication of the Fair Work Framework and the commitments contained within it; firmly believes that any organisation receiving public money should follow this framework and considers that de-recognising a trade union is entirely inappropriate, and calls on the Scottish Government and local authority funders to raise their concerns directly with Silverline Caledonia Care.
